At Dive Desk, every diver’s story inspires us—but some journeys leave a lasting mark. One of those is that of Sushant Joshi, the very first Divemaster we certified.
Sushant began his adventure with us as a commercial pilot looking for something new. He signed up for a Discover Scuba Dive, and that one experience beneath the waves completely transformed his life. Captivated by the underwater world, he returned to the Maldives again and again—completing his Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Emergency First Responder, Rescue Diver, and finally, Divemaster training with Dive Desk.
His passion didn’t stop there. Sushant went on to become a PADI Instructor and later served as Base Leader at The Taj Exotica Resort, guiding guests through unforgettable diving experiences. Eventually, he returned to his hometown of Mumbai to pursue a new dream: founding Scuba Reels, a dive start-up that brings scuba to the city.
Through Scuba Reels, Sushant offers confined water training sessions in Mumbai swimming pools, giving city dwellers a chance to start their dive journey close to home. Students can then complete their open water dives at exotic destinations around the world. His start-up also provides underwater photography and videography services for film shoots in India and the Maldives, while actively engaging in youth education programs about ocean conservation and protecting our seas.

For us at Dive Desk, nothing brings greater pride than seeing young divers grow into knowledgeable, disciplined, and passionate professionals who carry the spirit of adventure and stewardship forward. Sushant’s journey—from pilot to Divemaster, instructor, and now entrepreneur—is a reminder that diving is not just a sport, but a career path and lifestyle that can transform lives.
💪🏼💙👏🏼 We celebrate Sushant and look forward to supporting more divers in chasing their dreams, both in and out of the water.
