Silver Sprats

As you sink below the waves, flashes of silver surround you — schools of tiny fish twisting as one, creating shifting patterns of light. These forage fish are the bridge between plankton and predators, consuming drifting zooplankton while feeding larger fish, seabirds, and marine mammals. Their collective motion confuses hunters and reflects the ocean’s instinct for unity and survival. The shimmer of their scales is both defense and signal — life condensed into motion.
