Porites (Hard Coral)

Massive domes of Porites stand like fortresses on the reef. Growing slowly over centuries, they form the solid backbone of Maldivian reefs — enduring storms, bleaching, and time itself. These long-lived colonies record centuries of ocean change within their growth rings, acting as natural climate archives.
